Encoded Designs Developing Part-Time Gods of Fate

September 17, 2014 – Encoded Designs is excited to announce that they have reached an agreement with Third Eye Games to create a Fate conversion for the game Part-Time Gods. Third Eye Games’ Owner Eloy Lasanta spoke about the announcement: “I’m excited to be working with Encoded Designs on another Third Eye Games Product. The quality of their design work has been tested and will now be put to the test when designing the Fate conversion for Part-Time Gods. I am hopeful, as these guys are very talented.”

Part-Time Gods was designed using the Dynamic Gaming System. In Part-Time Gods, the characters are normal human beings who have been gifted with divinity. Now they must find a way to balance their mundane lives with their divinity as they fight creatures from myth and legend, encounter other gods with their own agendas, and deal with unintended consequences of their divinity on their loved ones.

Phil Vecchione, Owner of Encoded Designs, commented, “Part-Time Gods is a natural fit for the Fate system. The player-gods of Part-Time Gods are dramatic, proactive, and competent: the hallmarks of Fate characters. Likewise, Fate is a great system to emulate the flexibility of powers available in Part-Time Gods.“

The Encoded Designs team has previous experience working with Part-Time Gods. Phil Vecchione contributed to the Minions of the Source book, and both Phil and game designer Chris Sniezak wrote the Return of Dragons supplement. Vecchione added, “We are excited to have the chance to convert one of our favorite games into one of our favorite systems.”

Encoded Designs will convert Part-Time Gods into Fate using the Fate Core rules as a base. The conversion covers all the material in the Part-Time Gods Core book, including character generation, theologies, manifestations, relics, and antagonists. The conversion has a solid Fate base while utilizing some unique mechanics to model the life of a modern god.

The character creation system focuses on the duality of the human and divine natures of the modern god. Bonds will be an important mechanic used to ground the modern god into their daily life. The Manifestation system will be as flexible as the Dynamic Gaming System, allowing players to create effects based on their dominions.

The conversion is currently in the Alpha stage. The Alpha conversion will be completed by the end of October 2014, at which time it will be released for playtesting. After a playtesting period, revisions will be made to produce the Beta Playset, with the conversion set to be completed by the end of 2014.
